Extended Tempo Post

Today's offering is from a Swedish minimal-synth/darkwave band by the name of Frak, who released material in the late '80s-early '90s on the Börft label. Much of their early work had been contained on a series of hard-to-find cassette-only releases until recently, when their friends and fellow Swedes Parlour released a mysterious mix of the best of this material (sadly without any tracklisting). Parlour was previously known for the nifty 7" of balearic edits they released on Studio's Information label, which has also released this also nifty yet farrr weirder mix...

CHOICE new remixes

WELCOME TO THE CIRCLE OF SYCAMORE TREES. Here are some remixes.

Up first is a killer 15-minute + remix by Gavin Russom (previously of duo Delia Gonzales & Gavin Russom), who has also completed a sinister Britney Spears remix and is set to release the debut album of his solo project, Black Meteoric Star, on DFA sometime in the near future. Mr. Russom deals in the trade of dark, bubbling synths and throbbing bass pulses, rooted somewhere between acid techno, horror-movie soundtracks, and komische electronics.

Petar Dundov - Oasis (Gavin Russom Remix)

Next is a jacked-up house-homage by sloppy disco masters Rub n Tug, who have taken the latest single on DFA in directions not unlike those recently explored by the likes of The Juan MacLean, Still Going, or Runaway on the same label. This is a good thing. And so is that vocal hook!

Capracara - King of the Witches (Rub n Tug Remix)

And then there's this sharp and glitzy Aeroplane take on a particularly catchy Lindstrom & Solale track, which is yet another in a long line of irresistable remixes from the Belgian duo. Honestly though, it's hard to see them topping this one. Lindstrom's spaced-out synths sound even more elegant with the special Aeroplane-touch, and whoever Solale is she brings some amazing diva vox to the table here to complete the package.

Lindstrom + Solale - Baby I Can't Stop (Aeroplane Remix)
